Middle School athletics are completely self-funded.  There are suggested donation amounts associated which would cover the athletic expenses for each sport.  Unfortunately, if the target amount is not reached through donations, the sport may be cancelled.  Click HERE for the 2012-2013 donation flyer.

All students planning on trying out for a sports team at Mendenhall must have a current athletic physical on file before tryouts.  Sports physicals are valid for 1 calendar year.  Click HERE to download of copy of the physical form.  Students must have and maintain a 2.0 GPA in order to tryout and participate in athletics.

Library News! Book Fair!

The school year is quickly coming to an end and the library has been a whirlwind of excitement.  It's been a positively marvelous year.

The Scholastic Book Fair is once again coming to our school on Monday, May 20 through Thursday May 23.  It will be open before, during and after school for your shopping must haves as well as during open house.  This is a good time to pickup some exciting summer  reading novels.  Drop on by during the day or use the online shopping website.
We are in need of volunteers to help during the fair days and snacks for the teacher preview on Monday.  You can contact me at 925 606-4731, if you are interested in helping with the book fair.

Welcome New Students 2013-14

We had an extremely successful incoming 6th grade orientation on Tuesday April 23 for students and their families. Skits were performed and teachers introduced themselves and their classes in a spirited way. The PowerPoint used for the presentation is available HERE.

Ms. Sambuceti and Mr. Bernal gave talks at Sunset and Smith to our incoming parents about what to expect when transitioning to Middle School. The talks were well received and we are very fortunate to have a wonderful group of dedicated parents coming to our school next year. Click HERE to download a copy of the PowerPoint used for the presentations.

Mr. Pickles Family Dinner Night – May 21, 2013

Open House – May 22, 2013

Join us for Open House from 5-8pm and talk to teachers, see the work your student has completed and for the first time, enjoy dinner.  The Food Truck Mafia will be there selling food and desserts.  10% of all their proceeds will be donated back to MMS PTSA.  Some tables and chairs will be provided and you may bring a blanket and eat picnic style. Click here for the Open House flyer.

Digital Safety/Cyberbullying Tips for Parents

Dress Code

LVJUSD is renewing its pledge to adhere to Board Policy 5332 and to that aim is asking all schools to strictly enforce the dress code.  To help us in that process, the district has changed some of its procedures.  They are as follows:

1st offense:  referral, required to change clothes*, and parent contact;
2nd offense:  referral, required to change clothes, parent contact, and possible detention;
3rd offense:  referral, required to change clothes, detention, parent contact, and conference required; suspension and school/community service may also be required.

Students will be required to change into clothing provided by the district.  While these changes are not significantly different from our typical practice, there are a few differences.  Previously we have not required boys to change out of sagging pants and have allowed students to change into PE clothes. They often have not received detentions or phone calls home.  We will step up enforcement, and parents, your support of this policy is requested.  Please help your children to dress appropriately for school. Click HERE for examples of appropriate and inappropriate guidelines.
