A Monthly Parent Forum

Join Valerie Nebo, Mendenhall Vice Principal, for a monthly forum dedicated to navigating the world of social media with your middle school student in a positive and informed manner. Each meeting will have a topic of focus, an introduction and a round table type discussion.

Knitting Club!

Knitting Club Begins

We will begin knitting club Monday, January 22nd after school at 2:35 – 3:15 in the library.  We welcome new knitters as well as returning knitters.  New knitters will learn to cast on and knit a head band or more!  Returning knitters, please bring your needles and work on previous projects.  Cost is $5.00 for needles and you may sign up in the library.  The knitting club will meet Jan. 22 – Mar. 5th.  Any questions, please see Mrs. Hornbeck in the library.

Are you crafty, techie, creative, an engineer or a builder? If so, we need you! Are you looking to become a meaningful part of our community? Then we would love to have you! The Mendenhall Library Maker Space is looking for parent volunteers who are either willing to develop and teach student projects or supervise and support our students while they explore and learn on their own during their lunch break. Students work towards an international and community charity project each year – developing leadership skills and a greater understanding of the wold in the process, as well as making new friends and having a blast!

Interact’s Dollar Days Fundraiser will continue to Friday, January 26th.  Help support Hidden Valley Elementary school by donating your coins and dollars into the office!



Mustangs, don’t forget to pre-order your 2018 yearbook and 8th graders don’t forget to ask your parents to do an 8th grade ad.  The deadline for both of these is January 21st.  Orders can be placed online at the school website.



The MathCounts competition will be held tomorrow, January 20th from 9am to 1pm at the Granada High School student union.



If you are interested in participating in wrestling, a student meeting will be held on Tuesday, January 23rd  at 6:00pm in the Exercise room.  The first practice for wrestling will be on Thursday, January 25th from 6:00 to 7:30pm, also in the Exercise room.  You must have a current physical on file in the office before you can participate in practice.



Students, are you feeling stressed out about school, friends, or life?  Do you find yourself shutting down, picking fights with friends, or wanting to run away?  Help is available.  Ms. Dawn Allen, our school counselor, is here every Monday and Tuesday.  Our Horizons counselor, Mrs. Kristine Sosine, is here every Wednesday and Thursday.  Next month she will be starting a lunch group for managing stress.  To be put in touch with any of these services, let a teacher or the office know.  We are here to help!



Hey Mustangs!  The dance is next Friday and dress casual!  The theme of the dance is “Back to the 50’s!”  Go Mustangs!


Science Odyssey will be held on Wednesday, February 28th.  If you have a science experiment that you’d like to conduct then sign up for Science Odyssey!  The deadline to sign up is Friday, January 26th.
